Beverly Ward, MA, EdS, LPC
Hi, I'm Beverly. I’m glad that you've made your way to this page in your search for solutions. I believe that God has them for you and that you're not alone. Life’s problems, including mental health issues, are real, common, and treatable. Recovery is possible.
In therapy with me, every single part of you is welcome. Our therapy sessions are a place for you to lay your burdens down and be refreshed and renewed. It's likely we will laugh a lot, and we may also cry. Each of us is different and multifaceted. I'm interested in seeing the real you shine and in helping you see it too.

I care deeply about providing the best possible therapy for my clients.
I use two primary treatment modalities, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Person Center Therapy (PCT) , to treat a broad range of difficulties. For those who desire it, I’m able to incorporate biblical wisdom and Christian Counseling in our work together. Good therapy coupled with God’s Grace can transform hard places and roadblocks into circumstances that can be addressed and moved through and beyond. No matter what you're facing, there's a way forward. You're not the one person who must stay stuck. There's always hope for healing. Good therapy works!
As a seasoned therapist, I've worked with people from all walks of life facing all kinds of troubles. I have seen good therapy work powerfully to bring transformative growth. I've witnessed God's power and grace restore hearts, minds, and relationships. In my own life, God has restored joy and purpose from pain. I'd be so honored to help you find that as well.
If you’d like to know about my education and experience, here’s the scoop: It is my honor to currently serve as the Director of Still Waters Counseling Center. I entered the mental health field in 1994 and, in 1998, I obtained licensure from the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling to be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). In 2022, I became registered with the Florida Department of Health as an Out-of-State Telehealth Provider.
I have three degrees in behavioral sciences obtained from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB): a Bachelors degree in Psychology, a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, and an Ed.S in Counseling. I serve people experiencing a broad range of difficulties, including: stress, anxiety, depression, relationship troubles, grief, trauma, bi-polar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, caregiving issues, and other life challenges. Prior to working for Still Waters Counseling Center, I practiced in school-based and mental health settings providing counseling and psychological testing for children, teens, adults, and families.
In my career I’ve served on professional counseling boards and presented at professional counseling conferences. I’ve designed multiple therapeutic intervention programs for public K-12 schools and have written grants to fund them. At UAB I’ve served on the Masters in Counseling program admissions committee, co-taught Masters level counseling classes, helped develop the Community Counseling Clinic, presented at continuing education events for other LPCs, and obtained post-graduate certification in Psychometry (psychological testing and assessment). I’ve taken Masters level Seminary classes in Biblical Counseling. I have advanced study in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) at the internationally acclaimed Beck Institute in Philadelphia. I’m a mental health blogger and speaker. I’m a member of the Christian Association for Psychological Studies and the American Association for Christian Counselors. I’m a past member of Alabama ‘s Leadership Team for Moms in Prayer International. I will always go the extra mile to keep learning and serving because I know good therapy works. Let’s get to work helping YOU!
